Now Trending, Alpay Scholarship Juried University Student Exhibition,
Featured work by CSULA MFA graduate student Margaret Alarcón .
The Palos Verdes Art Center is pleased to announce the opening of its First Annual Alpay Scholarship University Student Juried Exhibition, titled Now Trending. Juried by Marilu Knode, Executive Director of the Laumeier Sculpture Park, St. Louis, MO, Now Trending will be a contemporary survey exhibition of college level art students working in all media.
Knode has selected Margaret Alarcón's hanging silkscreen on oilcloth "Calle Coyoacan" to be exhibited as a part of this landmark group exhibition. Over 30 current students and recent graduates were selected from more than 230 submissions from 14 leading Southern California art programs, inspired by the cultural landscape of Los Angeles.
An award ceremony will take place on Friday, June 13th to announce one artist as “Best in Show,” award a material stipend of $5,000, and a one-person exhibition in the Walker Gallery of The Palos Verdes Art Center in 2015. On the work selected for the exhibition, Knode has said “Now Trending will be an excellent way for the greater community to engage with the next wave of artists that will inform the collective vision of Southern California in the coming years.”
We invite you to join us at The Palos Verdes Art Center for the award presentation and opening reception on Friday, June 13, from 6-9PM. The Art Center is located at 5504 West Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
